We are transitioning to a partner training program here at Silver State Service Dogs. In this program a verified veteran is partnered with a puppy as young as eight weeks old. The veteran then raises and trains the puppy in their own home. Silver State Service Dogs will provide the puppy, basic vet care, and all of the necessary training at no cost to the veteran. The veteran and their puppy will go through weekly training with private lessons sprinkled in, all courtesy of silver state service dogs. If you are interested in training your own service dog with us, please contact us at apply at silver state servicedogs.com. We do not train outside dogs at this point. We breed and train purpose bred Labrador retrievers. Our Labradors are carefully selected for temperament and health.
In order to qualify for this program you must be able to attend weekly training for up to 18 months, or at such time as you pass your public access test with your canine partner. You also must be able to house and properly care for your canine partner.
Labrador Retrievers. We work exclusively with purpose-bred program dogs that we provide.
No, we do not train dogs outside of our program.
We have a closed program and only train the dogs that we provide. Our dogs are carefully bred and selected for trainability, health, and temperament.
There is no charge to veterans or first responders.
No, once the dog is partnered, you will be responsible for all upkeep of the animal. All details will be outlined in our pre-application.
You need to give us a copy of your DD214 and a letter from the VA or your doctor that you have a need for a service dog. You will have to pass a background check.
As we transisition to partner-training, the wait will just depend upon when we have puppies available. You can still get involved by attending our trainings and engaging with our dogs before you are partnered with a dog!
